bruce

Bruce Minturn

Oil. Petroleum. Black Gold. Dealing with our relationship to petroleum is at the heart of so much happening in clean tech and sustainability today. We’re very excited to have Bruce share about his journey and his thoughts on petroleum. When Bruce isn’t talking about oil, he’s doing energy audits and developing energy audit methodology.

Aaron Fairchild

Aaron sees opportunity in chaos, which is why his company is raising $50 million for its “Energy Retro Fund” to buy foreclosed or undervalued residential properties, retrofit them for energy efficiency, then rent or sell them for a return. Aaron has spent considerable time working in real estate finance and energy efficiency. He serves on Mayor Nickels’ Existing Buildings, Green Building Task Force and recently he worked with Puget Sound Energy in their Residential Energy Efficiency Department.

trike

Segue Fischlin

Inspired by the cargo trikes and rickshaws of Southeast Asia and Northwest Europe, Segue sought to develop a zero emissions, all-terrain vehicle that would be practical in the urban environment. Combining human power with battery-assist, a Frankentrike can scale most hills, carry up to 1/4 ton of stuff and travel at speeds of up to 25mph. It is 15x more energy-efficient than a small car, is quiet and non-polluting. Welcome to the kinder, gentler world of small EV’s.

Brett Horvath & Zach Silk

We are entering a new era where our understanding of communication, production and power are shifting. The proliferation of social media, the disaggregation of one-way media vehicles and the need for nimble, creative economies are changing the way we think of ourselves and our relationships with each other and institutions of all kinds. This new dynamic has the potential for amazing gains. Brett and Zach will explore the topic and connect it to green innovation.

Brett helped T. Boone Pickens leverage the power of the internet to build $1 Trillion worth of Wind Farms and build a 1,000,000 person army to take on the Oil Lobby.
Zach is an innovative strategist, with extensive experience in non-profit, advocacy and electoral fields, and has recently worked in some of the most competitive electoral races in the country.

They are both founding partners of Re-Vision Labs.

Anna Cummins and Dr. Marcus Erikseen

The Algalita Marine Research Foundation built a raft made from 15,000 plastic bottles and sailed from California to Hawaii during the summer of 2008 to bring attention to the issue of plastic marine debris. Hear in person what they have told to ABC News, Martha Stewart, NY Times and the TED conference about their extraordinary discoveries. They will be in Seattle as part of their route traveling by bicycle from Canada to Mexico. Along the 2000 mile coastal route samples of plastic debris collected from the North Pacific Subtropical Gyre (NPSG) will be given to legislators, educators and organizations–sharing Algalita’s research and education programs with 1000’s of people.
